POST MOUNTED SHELTERS
Freestanding Shelter.
No Containers Needed.
Mounted on timber or steel posts with a steel beam on top. Open access from every side, and clearance height built to suit your machinery rather than dictated by a container. A faster, brighter alternative to a conventional pole shed.
Timber Or Steel. Both Carry The Same Shelter.
A steel beam runs along the top of the posts and the shelter frame mounts to that. The choice between timber and steel comes down to budget, site conditions and how the structure needs to look.
Timber Posts + Steel Beam
H5-treated timber poles set in concrete footings, with a galvanised steel beam bolted along the top. The familiar and cost-effective option, and the one most farmers already know how to work with.
- Lower material cost
- Familiar to rural contractors
- Suits farm and lifestyle sites
- Post height set to your requirement
Steel Posts + Steel Beam
Galvanised steel posts on engineered footings or baseplates. Chosen where spans are large, wind loading is high, or where a longer maintenance-free life matters more than upfront cost.
- Longer service life
- Better for high-wind sites
- Suits commercial and civil sites
- Baseplate or in-ground options
Post Mounted Shelter Or Pole Shed?
Both give you covered space on posts. They are built very differently, and they suit different jobs.
| Post Mounted Shelter | Conventional Pole Shed | |
|---|---|---|
| Build time | Days | Weeks to months |
| Roof | Sheltex 650gsm PVC | Steel cladding |
| Natural light | Excellent — white cover | Requires skylights |
| Clear span | Clear span throughout, no internal posts | Internal posts typically required |
| Relocatable | Yes | No |
| Cover replaceable | Yes | Full re-roof |
Approval requirements vary by state and local council. We supply the engineering documents your council or certifier asks for — see Specs and wind regions.
When Containers Are The Wrong Answer
Schools & Community
Where shipping containers would look out of place, or where open access from all sides matters for supervision and safety.
Drive-Through Yards
Machinery in one end and out the other, with no containers restricting the flow.
Tall Machinery
When you need more clearance than a container gives, post height is specified to suit rather than fixed at 2.59m or 2.89m.
No Storage Needed
If you do not need the lockable storage that containers provide, posts give you the cover without the cost of buying them.
Livestock & Stock Handling
Open sides suit airflow for wintering, standoff pads and calf rearing. See Agriculture & Livestock.
Feedpads & Bunkers
Posts keep the working face clear for loaders and feed-out wagons.
